Photoluminescence (PL) imaging is a fast and versatile tool for characterizing silicon wafers and solar cells. Laboratory equipment for PL imaging is a well established technology which is used throughout the photovoltaic (solar) industry. Drawbacks for such lab instrument solutions are that the measuring time is long, and that the throughput capacity is quite limited and also usually depends on manual operations.
Prediktor has developed and delivers this technology for automatic in-line real-time use. To our knowledge, this is the first successful in-line real-time PL analytical instrument in the world. The instrument is mounted above wafer- or cell transport lines and captures PL images of each wafer/cell on the fly, without stopping the transport for image capturing.
The heart of the Prediktor PL system is the processing algorithms for quality parameter predictions. These algorithms are proven to be able to predict quality parameters with better accuracy than leading PL lab equipment.
The instrument can measure more than one wafer/cell per second in a continuous line. For more information follow this link.
