History

1995 - 1996: Founding the company
Prediktor was established by three founders with extensive experience from the process industry and from industrial research work. The business idea was to do consulting and deliver custom-made solutions to the process industry within the fields of automatic control and database- and real-time applications.
During the first years, advanced control systems and operator support systems for pipe-bending machines, felt stretching machines, fertilizer production, beverage production, PVC production and metallurgical industry were developed and delivered. Other fields of activity were consulting related to instrumentation and control of magnesium plants, chloralkali plants, expanded clay pellet production and maritime control applications.
1997 - 2001: Developing into a products company
During the first years, the idea of realizing a real-time system integration platform and a process intelligence toolkit emerged, and a research project for that purpose was established. The project was funded by the Norwegian Research Council, headed by Prediktor and executed in cooperation with several Norwegian process industry players such as Hydro, Elkem, Skretting, and BioMar. As part of this research project, a tracking system was developed to track raw materials through the process steps and collect all the influencing data for the resulting product - in this case, a bag of fish feed.
The results of this project turned out to be the foundation of Prediktor's APIS software suite. In parallel during these years, Prediktor developed a full-blown MES system for a fish meal production company. The MES system was rolled out to 5 plants, and represented an important step in Prediktor's development. This system tracked the products from the fishing fields, to the receiving and storage facilities on-shore, via the plant to storage locations for fish meal and fish oil and finally to the customer.
In 1997, Prediktor also became the first Norwegian member of the OPC Foundation. Since then, the OPC standard has become an important standard for interfacing between external systems and the Prediktor APIS platform.
During this period, Prediktor started selling APIS software to OEM partners and system integrators, as well as directly to end users.
Another emerging field for Prediktor was the application of NIR spectroscopy for on-line analytical purposes. Prediktor integrated NIR on-line analytical instruments into Prediktor MES systems or into a customer's existing control systems. These early customers were within the chemicals industry, the meat production industry and the fish feed industry.
2002 - 2007: Growth and product consolidation
In 2002, Prediktor won the contract for delivery of a MES system to the new ScanWafer solar wafer production plant at Herøya in Norway. ScanWafer later turned into REC, and the contract was the start of Prediktor's solar industry engagement. Prediktor has since then specialized in MES deliveries to the solar industry and has developed the Prediktor Solar MES suite and delivers and supports MES solutions to a range of companies in the solar industry. The growth of the solar industry has boosted Prediktor's growth to a rate of 30-40% each year in this period.
Prediktor's MES deliveries now cover the solar, food & feed, dairy, building materials, oil & gas and the car parts industry.
During this period, Prediktor also began developing the APIS Spektron NIR on-line analytical product to support product quality control and optimization. The APIS Spektron system can be delivered as a stand alone system, but can also be delivered as part of a MES system.
2008 - 2009: Going international
Prediktor begins delivering MES and APIS Spektron systems internationally, encompassing deliveries to Sweden, Finland, Russia, Germany and Singapore. To support international sales, delivery and support, Prediktor subsidiaries are established in China, Singapore, France, Sweden and Germany.
