MPC and Kalman-filtering
Model-based Predictive Control (MPC) refers to a class of algorithms that computes a sequence of manipulated variable adjustments in order to optimize the future behavior of a plant. MPC technology is used to meet defined targets within given operating constraints. The MPC technology is well suited for processes characterized by:
• Strong interactions between process variables
• Constraints on manipulated variables
• Constraints on controlled variables
• Dominant time delays or large time constants
